Dungeon Delve Redux

I can't believe I forgot to post this on the blog...a while back I threw up the in progress pencils for my redo of the original Dungeon Delve piece.  Well, I technically finished this much earlier in the year...and promptly forgot to update the progress on it here, while updating it at the other sites I frequent.  So!  Here's everything I have for it - pencils, color sketch, and final.  Enjoy!
Above are the preliminary pencils and the tighter pencils I did before I moved onto the value and color study.  Below, said value and color study, with the final underneath.  Candlelight is a tricky thing to do, and I feel partly successful with it.  Both the light and the color fall off of it very quickly, and I had to reference a few paintings that used a similar lighting scheme to wrap my head around it and pull it off.

Back with doodles

Back from vacation, here's some sketches, and a semi-final pass at the orc shaman.

Orc Shamans

A quick post before I head off on vacation...these are some recent design ideas I've had for the ArtOrder Art Test challenge.  I decided to focus on the orc shaman, and I've been pretty happy with it so far - as you can see, a lot of my ideas have focused on using dead animals for costuming and amping up the level of mysticism. I won't be able to post much in the way of progress while I'm gone though, so once I'm back it'll be a mad dash to get a final sent off for judging.

Paints...

More photoshop doodles than sketchbook pages?! Unpossible!

I've been having a lot of fun doing my lunchtime portraits - slowly, they're starting to help me refine some things I've had knocking around in my head.

Sketchbook Splurge

I need to come up with better titles...this is what happens when I forget to upload for a week or so.

I decided to try and figure out horse anatomy recently, so apologies for the excess amount of studies in these pages...those back legs are tricky to me to get right.

Also started to do a few portraits in photoshop during lunch, just to cut my teeth on some things I've picked up recently.
